A Manifesto of Rot
by Rob Haines

Here in the Detritus, entropy is our god.

We sift through your rot, devour your sin, and in recompense you diminish us. You see only the tearing down of order, decry our services as implacable attempts to return the universe to some primordial chaos. You think decay is a dirty word.

With skittering legs and ornate mouthpieces shaped by ten million years of evolutionary erosion, we are the thankless bulwark between you and stagnation.

That is your fallacy: you equate rot and stagnation.

You’re Builders, you see only the virtue of construction. You see the undermining of all you have crafted. You deign not to look at the stored potential of every waste product, every abandoned project, every half-construct, stagnant and useless until we come along.

Rot is the release of locked potential.

Entropy is fuel for fresh growth.

Detritus is life, yet to be!
